Inner-role functioning directly affects our personal and organisational performance
An introduction to the concept of Inner-role and its originator DR.J.L.Moreno
- Build better relationships by understanding more about the inter-relational nature of all people in varying circumstances, involving different people, times and environments.
- Understand inner-role systems along with a personal preferred learning style to direct talent in the desired direction, and plan for future professional, individual and group development and success.
- Reduce stress by understanding ‘emotional fitness’ and learn about emotional awareness and integration, emotional resilience and flexibility in meeting situations, challenges and change with greater strength.
- Align competencies with the goal by acquiring greater knowledge of personal expertise and growth opportunities to make better use of the potential and experience success.
- Understand the collective expression of inner roles and how their harmonious and/or conflicted interrelation in communication effects on and is effected by the nature of relationships and circumstances.
- Gain knowledge of how the inner role system supports and/or hinders the management, realisation and preservation of resources, skills, relationships and environments.
- Develop superior problem-solving competencies and reduce anxiety when faced with a challenge by identifying and fine-tuning personal skills and known successful functions in the present and for the future.
- Understand personal and/or group motivations to support the development, growth and achievement of personal and organisational goals.
StepUp's philosophy and its online evaluation tool is based on the scientifically developed and proven inter-relational and action-focused group modality founded by Dr. J. L. Moreno .
StepUp is utilising these concepts, originated in the Morenian Role Theory and founded by Dr. J. L. Moreno in 1921, who identified inner-roles and their systems and their inter-relational nature. Moreno concluded that each inner role is interdependent and does not operate in isolation.
Inner roles describe a 'unit' of adopted inner qualities, which consist of interpersonal, social, professional and cultural elements. Inner roles are formed and expressed through a lifetime of exposure and inter-relationship with people and circumstances. Inner roles are enacted differently according to the nature of relationships, settings and circumstances. Words such as ʻinter-relationalʼ and ʻcontextualʼ are frequently used to describe such dynamics.
Our responses, creativity and resilience are governed by our interrelational functioning and shaped by inter-personal, social, professional, cultural, economical, technological and educational elements. How flexibly and harmoniously we function and how well our inner-roles are developed is reflected in our experiences of personal and group success.
